See… what had happened was….
I was perusing the book of faces yesterday morning and someone had started a thread about “What to watch” on Netflix… and some of the shows she mentioned liking were among my faves as well so I started looking over the recommendations given…. and since the person who posted is kinda a big deal, she got LOADS of recommendations.
Remember yesterday when I posted about how I really need to stop planning all the future? that doesn’t apply to your TV Binge list, right? Cause I can’t be the only one who plans that sort of thing out…
So, back to the book of faces recommendations… I perused the list and culled out 14 shows that I thought sounded interesting… a side note – Kelby had asked people to support their answer… few did… but those who did? Their passion for these shows definitely made a difference in whether or not something made it to my list…
So then I went to check out what was ACTUALLY ON Netflix… because not all of the shows listed are… (The Good Wife, The Wire, Newsroom…) and when all was said and done, I now have the next 10 Serieses for my Binge list.
Now, before you get all “TV ROTS YOUR BRAIN” on me, I don’t care. Sometimes I need something to quiet my brain and vegging out with TV does just that. Andplusalso? I watch these generally right before bed… while crocheting… {This might be why I’m single…well hell, add it to the list anyway…}
Before I dive into my list, allow me to share a bit more. I was late to the Netflix bandwagon so I’m behind… Like, I have only had Netflix since late July… of this year. I’ve also mentioned how I have to REALLY want to watch a series to start binge watching because once I start a series, I cannot watch anything else until I’m done.
I’ve already binge watched Dexter (Loved it) as well as Orange is the New Black (Also loved it) and House of Cards (yep – love) and Sherlock (you guessed it… LOVE LOVE LOVE) along with a few others. If you weren’t a fan of any of the above, this list may not work for you… and the list is in no particular order… ok, that’s a lie… it’s in alphabetical order… because OCD
(1) Firefly
Set almost 500 years in the future, this short-lived but much-loved series follows the adventures of the ragtag crew of the spaceship Serenity.
1 Season and if I don’t FINALLY watch this, then Ali and Evin *may* disolve our friendship and we can’t have that now can we? Plus? Joss Whedon… enough said…
Eric Taylor faces enormous pressure when he signs on as the new coach of a small-town Texas football team that’s poised to win the state championship.
5 Seasons… but Texas Football… duh.
(3) Leverage
Backed by thieves and hackers, former insurance investigator Nate Ford pulls a 180 on the corporate and government entities he used to protect.
5 Seasons… but the premise seems interesting and I vaguely remember seeing an episode when it first came out and liking it… then, life happened.
(4) Lie to me
In this procedural crime drama, Dr. Cal Lightman helps the police by using his knowledge of human behavior to determine whether a person is lying.
3 Seasons… and I *may* be interested in watching this so that I can better read people when they are lying to me… maybe… maybe not.
(5) Peaky Blinders
BBC2 airs Peaky Blinders a British ganagster saga set in 1919 post-war Birmingham. Cillian Murphy is Thomas Shelby, leader of the most feared and powerful local gang, the Peaky Blinders. Named for their practise of sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps, they make money from illegal betting, protection and the black market. But when a crate of guns goes missing from an arms factory, their battle-hardened leader recognises an opportunity to move up in the world.
2 Seasons. I don’t know much about this except it got some pretty rave reviews on the book of face… plus? I do enjoy british shows… who’da thunk it?
(6) Saving Grace
Following a car crash, a self-destructive detective gets a chance at redemption from her “last chance angel,” but she has difficulty accepting it.
I really like the idea behind this… and Holly Hunter…
(7) The Blacklist
After turning himself in, a brilliant fugitive offers to help the FBI bag other baddies, but only if rookie profiler Elizabeth Keen is his partner.
2 Seasons… only one on Netflix right now though unless I’m blind… user error is always a possibility… not a lot of investment time wise and I adore James Spader.
Four ordinary women with an extraordinary flair for code breaking and razor-sharp intelligence skills are the focus of this murder-mystery drama.
2 seasons. I *think* Evin has mentioned this one to me before…
(9) The Following
A former FBI agent returns to duty when an infamous serial killer escapes death row. He soon discovers that the killer has a dangerous following.
2 seasons – Does it say something about me that I like serial killer type shows? hmmmm…
(10) Wentworth
Bea Smith is locked up while awaiting trial for the alleged attempted murder of her husband and must learn how life works in prison.
Everything on the book of face indicates that this is as good (if not better) than OITNB. And I REALLY loved OITNB.
Bonus #11 – Orphan Black
Sarah, a streetwise hustler on the run, witnesses the suicide of a stranger who looks just like her. Sarah assumes her identity, hoping that cleaning out the dead woman’s bank account will solve all of her problems. Instead, after taking on the new identity, Sarah quickly finds herself caught in the middle of a deadly conspiracy and must race to find answers.
Ok, this one isn’t on Netflix, but it IS on Amazon Prime and since I accidentally signed myself up for Amazon Prime, I might as well take full advantage, no?
So dear people I adore… what shows do you love? Any missing from my list? Any you wanna share about? (No spoilers please)
