Start the New year Organized and Clean – Day 1 -update

So, day 1 of getting my house in order by the end of the year and I’m suddenly realizing just how overwhelming this project may be… I moved into the house…um… 3 maybe 4 years ago?  I don’t know… the story of “the house” is a bit complicated and I’ve lived there on two different occasions and it is home… and I love it.  Every inch of it.  even the “bad memories” that helped me to grow stronger.

I digress… my point is that in the last 3-4 years, I have accumulated a LOT of crap… I mean seriously.  And this is just day one.  I can’t wait to see what other treasures I uncover on my endeavors.

Here’s where I started

I know.

In the process, I unearthed 5 hairbrushes {I’m infamous for FORGETTING to pack one on trips so end up having to buy a new one}, 2 bottles of nail polish {THAT made me UBER happy}, several 2008-2009 planners…that I never used… my case of cassette tapes of really bad music that I love {Air Supply and other hair bands from the early 80s}, and this pseudo-impressive pile of Mardi Gras Beads…

Now, I’ve never actually BEEN to a Mardi Gras celebration so where on EARTH did I get these?  No Clue… but they will be moved to my craft closet… because you never know when you might need them for SOMETHING, right?

I loaded up a big garbage bag FULL of stuff I no longer needed and wasn’t worthy of being donated which was oddly freeing… I mean, obviously it wasn’t needed, so why was I hanging on to it?  Kinda like life… ok, ok… not gonna analyze THAT… {yet}

And now for the moment that you’ve been waiting for… the end result:

Imagine that… there is now room for COATS in the Coat closet!  Who’d a thunk it 🙂 Now, when I’m done with the project of course, I need to figure out what to do with the entrance… because it is too boring and needs an update.  Ideas?
