This week was a bit off… 

kinda par for the course around here.

We lost a dear dear family friend early in the week and while grateful his suffering has concluded, he was a huge part of my life.  Praying for the family as they trudge through the new normal and find peace.

Then, I had a reminder that I am now 50.  With a horrific abdominal pain that I was absolutely convinced was appendicitis…

Spoiler Alert – It wasn’t.

but it did have me completely off my game for 3 days.

So, did I get ANY sewing done?

Of course I did. 

Was it the project I started?

Of course not.

Bowl Cozies

When I first started my sewing journey, Bowl Cozies were all the rage.

They are quite useful for microwaved dinners that are magically the temperature of the sub on the outside of the bowl and barely lukewarm in the middle.

They are also awesome for holding your ice cream bowls and not freezing your fingers.

I sewed a ton of them. 

We have exactly 2…

(I’m pretty sure everyone I love got some for Christmas that year.)

The hubs casually mentioned we needed a few smaller ones, since our ice cream bowls are little.

And since I found some of the farm fabric, I thought I’d just whip a few up real quick

You can even buy special Bowl Cozy Templates and precut batting if you want to…

But this video from Make with Melissa is my absolute favorite and requires zero template and nothing pre-cut so a great project for my frankenbatting.

Kobalt Mini ToolBox Drawer Liners

I’m about a year after the fad probably, but I finally picked up one of the mini Kobalt tool boxes for your desk.

(You can also find similar knock-offs on Amazon)

It’s adorable.

And Pink (OBVS)

but the top and the drawers are just plain metal, so if you put anything in it, it all sloshes around like flip flops in a thunderstorm.

So I turned to the Googles.  

Like ya do.

I found loads of people lining their drawers with felt or foam or even fabric…

but I wanted dividers and I was coming up blank on anyone who had travelled this road and shared the map.

I had this vision of a jewelry box type look – for my sewing feet.

So I did what I usually do…

FAKE IT ‘TIL YA MAKE IT!

Let’s just say it’s functional… for now… but there will be a round 2 coming down the line.

Baby Bibs

I also had a darling baby girl quilt all rolled and ready for delivery… then thought “babies need bibs”

I had made a few for my Grand-Nephew, so was able to reuse the pattern.

All pink and cow-gal, and I think these turned out great!

I love a project that reminds you that you are making progress.

Mama’s Love Quilt 

I also made some progress on the Mama’s Love Quilt.

This week I started making some of the hearts

and after about 4 hours…

got half done…

With a few hiccups along the way…

But that’s a post for another day.
