#Mamavation Monday Week 1

Week one is in the books.  It’s done and there’s nowhere to go but down… lbs that is 🙂

The last few days haven’t made the scale budge even a little bit but I’m ok.  6.5 lbs the first week is nothing to frown about.
Sunday was the hardest day for me.  Tradition states that after church, we all gather at my in-laws for lunch.  This sunday, that meant being surrounded by fried chicken and french fries.  warm rolls. potatoes…  but I did AWESOME!  My DH is so supportive.  We came home first which allowed us to change out of our church clothes of course but also enabled me to make a salad to take along with me because it is rare to see a fresh salad or veggies at these gatherings.

I ate my salad and I had a piece of chicken – without the fried skin of course and while I had to explain myself to the rest of the family, they were all supportive as well and my mother in law started talking about what we could do the next Sunday to accommodate this new lifestyle.  Who knows, maybe it will inspire some of the others to make different eating choices as well.

Today I even hit the gym again which I haven’t in a while.  It’s going to be tough this semester because of my schedule but I’m committed to make it work.  Tomorrow is a non-gym day since I leave for school immediately after work and won’t get home until 11:00 on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Pick up the kiddos on Thursday but I’ll make it back to the gym on Friday.  I also envision some we fit time with the kids this weekend and bike rides in the neighborhood.

I’m excited and still motivated.  It’s hard but worth it!  How do you incorporate a busy schedule with “Gym time”?  I’m curious so let me know!

Day 1- 260 lbs
Goal- 180 lbs
Day 6- 253.5 lbs
6.5 lbs lost!

Congratulations! 🙂 And WELCOME to the Sistahood! 🙂

You’re doing a GREAT JOB, and it’s fab that your family is supportive. That makes a HUGE difference! I can’t wait to see next Sunday’s menu!

As far as the gym goes.. I would just see if you can grab a DVD or Wii workout for the house for those days that you can’t make it to the gym. Also, remember, you need a day a rest so that your body can recover, so maybe schedule that day on a day that you can’t make it to the gym to help!

Good luck, love! I look forward to getting to know you!

  3. So glad you are pledging Mamavation. Can you walk on your breaks at work or between classes? Even if you just have a few minutes and a computer check out Leslie Sansone on youtube. She even has some 2 and 3 minute walks just to get you moving during the day. It is a great way to squeeze in some exercise when you are at work. Keep doing things like bringing salad to the family get-together, you will see that soon others are making better choices too.

  4. Welcome to the sistahood! You are going to have a lot of support here. Congrats on your loss this week. Time for the gym? Easy put yourself on your to do list. Fit it in no matter what time of the day. Start small and work your way up. You will see how easy it is when you take baby steps. Mix your workout up so you don’t get bored! If you do well in classes then go take a class. If you work out better on your own then mix it up on the machines. Walking is a great exercise to and that doesn’t have to take place in a gym.

  5. Welcome to the sistahood and congrats on your weight loss! that is so awesome! You inspire me!

  6. Congratulations! It looks like you’re taking BIG strides in the right direction so keep it up!

I hate to say it, but to squeeze in gym time, I’ve started waking up an hour earlier and taking away the snooze option. It’s really helped me a lot to have my gym bag ready to go the night before so I have no excuse.

  7. Way to go hun! Great idea bringing your own salad! I do that too! Whenever I know it might be tough I like to come prepared!

Good luck this week! & Don’t forget to take some before pictures and measurements so you’re not only focusing on the scale!

  8. You’re so on your way! Yippee!! Maybe next Sunday you could bring a big salad for everyone so they get some good greens too!! Look forward to following your progress!

  9. I love how your family is supporting you with this endeavor. That is so wonderful! Not everyone gets that. Yes, you are right…this may very well become something you can all do together. And just those little changes at every gathering will add up to alot. XXOO

  10. Congratulations on your weight loss, but mostly congratulations on keeping your meal healthy on Sunday. I know how hard of a task that can be! That is so awesome that your DH and your MIL are both supportive of your healthier eating. When I announced last year that I was going to start taking care of myself better, my parents totally turned Thanksgiving around into mostly healthy options – we all ate great that day! It really sounds like your healthy habits will totally help your family too. That is so awesome!

It definitely sounds like you have a busy schedule! I work out at home, but I fit workout time in by waking up early (ok, I try to at least) because otherwise I don’t do it. Or rarely do it at night. And in the morning is the only time where no one else has demands on my time because I wake up before they all do LOL

Good luck this week and I look forward to tweeting with you!

  11. That is so wonderful that you’re family is on board with supporting you and helping you out. Maybe in the next weeks and months those Sunday lunches will be full of fresh salads and fruits. You could start bringing one clean food every week so they can see how delicious clean eating can be 🙂

It’s hard to fit the gym into a schedule. You almost have to schedule it like an appointment and stick it on the calendar. The key is to making that time priority and not something that’s done when the schedule is open.

    Have a great week!

  12. I can relate to trying to fit gym time in a busy schedule. Right now I’m trying to fit it in my not-so-busy schedule… I think it’s all about motivation. It seems you are very motivated and committed to this (the skinless fried chicken–that takes some reserve)! Also, it’s important to do it at a time you’re gonna WANT to do it–not dread to. Maybe in the morning? That way you can get it in right before your shower? We have to shower anyway, right? I think it’s just gotta be a time you really want to. All this talking is really inspiring me, so thank you!!
