#mamavation Monday… on a Tuesday…

Technology hates me lately… My internet at home has been fubar-ed no clue why… and then yesterday, I couldn’t even connect via 3G.  Do you fully understand how FRUSTRATING that is?  Yes – I’m too “plugged in” but seriously – I felt like I was back in the dark ages without access to my blog… facebook… twitter… thank GOODNESS for texting or I would have gone insane.  Seriously insane.  I’m not being dramatic people… you all are my lifeline.

After the latest 2-week challenge, I’ve been a fitness slacker.  There.  I said it.

Mommy-pallooza has drawn to a close and while I LOVE spending time with my boys and we had a blast, I’m ready for some mommy time.  I know… I know… most of you do the whole parenting thing 24/7 so it sounds like I’m a big ol whiny baby but you know how a new mom will look at another new mom with twins and say “Gosh – I don’t know how you do it!” but in all actuality, we get accustomed to our situations no matter what they are?  Well, I got used to being a part time mom… sharing my boys with their dad means that there are days when my world revolves around them and there are days that my world revolves around ME.  It became comfortable… so change that dynamic?  um… yeah… it was interesting.

Don’t get me wrong – my kids are UH-Mazing… seriously.  but last night, when the whole house was quiet (save for the delicate jingle of the bells on the cats collars as they chased each other around like crack monkeys) and I didn’t have anyone else needing anything… it was nice.  until I realized I couldn’t log on for Mamavation TV and then I went into panic mode… THANK GOODNESS I have Megan to pull my arse out of the fire.  Plus, we DID make progress on painting the house…

What’s going to be different this week?  I’m back on track and training for the 5K Mudrun that will be here before I know it.  That means I need to kick my own arse in gear.  So, back to running 3 days a week.  In the morning.  At the butt-crack of dawn.  Yes… I’m just that crazy.

What’s that you say?  You aren’t a runner?  Yeah… me neither.  which is WHY I’m doing this.  I want to push myself to do things that aren’t comfortable. How do you know what you are capable of until you push yourself beyond your own self-imposed limitations and boundaries?  I say screw that – YOU (and I ) are AMAZING and can do anything you set your mind to.  So I’m challenging you… what’s holding you back?  What have you always thought you “Couldn’t” do?

I say let’s make a plan to JUST DO IT! (pretty sure that phrase is trademarked by Nike who has absolutely NO affiliation with this blog and I want to give them proper credit so they don’t like sue me or something)

Wanna know what gives me the strength and knowledge that I can do more than I give myself credit for?  In a word – Mamavation.  Don’t know what Mamavation is? (you must be a new reader – WELCOME!) Mamavation is a community dedicated to obesity prevention & weight loss for women… but more than that, it is a Virtual Sorority of the most amazing women I’ve ever met.  It’s a judgement free zone where we are all cheering each other on as we strive to reach our individual goals.  Right now we are gearing up for the next Mamavation Mom Boot-camp and applications are being accepted so stop procrastinating and jump on in… or at least join us in cheering on the applicants.

As for me – this week’s goals:

  • Begin C25K running plan (again) with 3 days of running this week
  • Drink my 100oz of the good stuff (Meagan – I mean water, woman) again because I’ve been slacking there too
  • Get my sleep patterns back in check

I’ll also figure out why technology is hating me so much lately but not tonight.  Tonight… I have a date 🙂

  1. Those are really great goals, that I am working on myself this week!!

  2. Goals are good! I always say I need to drink more water, yet I keep choosing wine instead. Dangit!

Let me know how your running is going. I run because I’m lazy.
I know, that sounds counter-intuitive. But seriously, lazy people tend to be the most resourceful and efficient – anything to get out of work, right? Running is the most efficient exercise I can come up with. Therefore, I run!

  3. Yeah baby! We have very similiar goals. I need to get back to the H2O and get back in my running routine. I’m trying to train for a 5K and I’m only at week 3 of the c25k training. My 5k is in 4 weeks, so I’m officially a week behind! GAH! Let’s kick this thing’s ass!

  4. You can do it! It sounds like you had fun with the kiddos! I would not even know what to do with no Internet… Good luck this week, I hope it’s an awesome one for you!

  5. I seriously relish every Tuesday and Thursday when my son is at school and my daughter is in preschool and the husband is still sleeping. It’s so quiet!!! So I can understand wanting some alone time. 🙂

  6. Awesome stuff! Good luck with the training! I find a goal like the mud run that you ARE going to do very motivating. Have an awesome time working towards your goals!

PS – I totally get the whole routine thing & what’s normal for you isn’t normal for someone else , I’m glad you’re getting some personal time back!

  7. I love your post. Thanks for posting it. 🙂 God bless

  8. YEAH! Just do it!
I, too, and lost when my net is down,. I nearly lost my mind in our October blizzard that left us powerless for 12 days- heat, I can live without, but no internet?? well, let’s just say I wasn’thanging out at Starbucks and church basements to sign in,
My name is Wendy and I’m an internet addict.
WTG on the race! You’re going to be amazing, you know… because you already are! 😉

    • OMG – 12 DAYS?!?! fingers crossed it doesn’t take THAT long for me to figure out or I’m MOVING to Starbucks. I blame solar flares – a friend of mine was having the same issues yesterday and this weekend.

  9. I sometimes wish my house would be quiet even if only for a day. You’ve been busy. Good luck getting back to your plans for mudrun & h2o.

    • LOL – I can only imagine your house… Although, had you moved to Texas, you could have escaped to MY house for peace and quiet… Just sayin’ 😉
