By the time you read this, the finalists for the next Mamavation Campaign will have been announced. I remember a few months ago being exactly where many of you are now and trying to conceal my excitement, anticipation, and yes even fear that I might not be chosen as a finalist… or that I might be. What I really want to say to each and every one of you is that you are ALREADY winners in my book because you made a choice to publicly declare war on the battle of the bulge and are making changes to win that battle!!! I give you all my word that I am here to support you NO MATTER WHAT the outcome! I know that if it could be done, Leah would make each and every one of you the next Mamavation Mom. And when the finalists are announced, I hope that you all stick around because I value your support and involvement in the sistahood as well. We are all in this together!
Now, on to news about ME…
I’m really happy with my results from this past week. I get in more exercise last week than I did the ENTIRE Holiday season… which is kinda sad… even still, I didn’t get in as much as I wanted to due to lack of planning. The good news is that there is still room for improvement!
Lori – I don’t want you to have to read too much of my post because I KNOW you have lots to do, so
I LOST 1.5 lbs!!!
that was SUCH a welcome sight after maintaining for so long, but that just reminds me that I KNOW what I need to do and it is up to me to put it into action!
Isn’t that true of ANY aspect of our lives? What we get out of something is DIRECTLY related to what we put into it! So, that got me thinking… What I want are some pretty MIRACULOUS results! – Realistic but miraculous. And I will get them. Why? Because I’m pouring my heart and soul, blood sweat and tears into each and every step along the way!
There are struggles of course because I’m human after all… like lately, I’m struggling with my need to run. I NEED to run and logically I know this… but the weather has me NOT wanting to … a wet cold is no fun… I know, I know – I’m being a big baby compared to those of you who run in the snow seeing as how I’m in Texas, but I’m working to get over that. A couple of times this week I went to the gym but honestly, I feel like such an idiot running on a treadmill…in front of other people… with them pointing and laughing at me (ok, so maybe the last part isn’t accurate but it feels that way). I KNOW I have a 5K scheduled for April 30th, so I guess what that means is it’s time to put on my big-girl panties and just DEAL with it – bundle up and train!!! Period!!!
I’m also starting P90X with the rest of you brave souls. Yep… Skerd of that too! Went to the grocery store and stocked up on all the protein I’ll need to consume and planned out the first few days of meals. Hardest part about the nutrition plan for me (although this will sound crazy) will be to make sure that I get ENOUGH calories. Crazy huh?
I’m continuing the Water Aerobics with Jessica as well! 2x per week and it keeps me on an early morning schedule!
Here’s something else I remembered this week… when you get up in the morning and start your day off with some form of fitness – walking/ jogging/ water aerobics/ WHATEVER, I set myself up for making better decisions all day long… do you find the same thing?
So, in short… I’m gonna keep going. I know what works and am making great strides towards being fully back in the swing of things. Still working to get things back to being a habit. 🙂
What are your tips for making good habits stick?
Yay! So happy to hear you’ve jumped on the P90X bandwagon too! I’m a little out of my comfort zone doing it, so I know how you feel 🙂 Looking forward to reading about your progress too!
Congrats on your weight loss and for continuing to push through, even when it seems so difficult! You’re doing amazing!
Thank you for commenting on my blog, love reading your posts!!
Congrats on the loss (1.5 lb whoohoo!) and I found it very true, when you start the morning with the right foot (in exercising) you are more likely to keep up with good choices during the day 🙂
Congratulations on your loss! 🙂 It feels a little funny to write that sentence. Anyway, I digress…
I live in North Dakota where the weather is not very friendly to consistent outdoor exercise (particularly running). It’s funny because I always worried about the opposite problem. I figure at the gym everyone is there doing their own thing and everyone’s there for the same reason. I worry about running outside because I don’t want the guy shoveling his driveway to watch and see when I have to stop to walk or wondering why I’m so slow! I think we all have our issues, and we can all acknowledge that and move through them.
My best tip for making a habit stick is to make a chart. If you want to exercise more, put a calendar up and mark off each day that you exercise. If you want to lose weight, put up a chart and watch it go down over time. Then, when you have an off week, you can look back at all your successful weeks. If you want to eat more fruits and veggies, put up a chart and mark off one block for each serving you eat. They all work great for me…if I do them! Best wishes on your journey!
I absolutely find that I make better decision regarding health when I exercise first thing in the morning! Absolutely! Great job on the weight loss this week! Yes, you have the tools. You know what to do. Proud of you for kicking it up a notch!
Applauds for P90X and You were right, I’ve been very busy today. In any case, I know You got my back. Weather calls for comfort, but we need to kick our butts off the comfy warm couch. Good luck!
Woohoo! Glad you’ll be joining us with the P90X. I am sitting here hydrating and chilling before it kicks my butt today. Congrats on the loss.
Oh, lord, CONGRATS on seeing that scale move! Isn’t that just the best? I know when I finally posted a loss today it felt like I won the lottery. CONGRATULATIONS!
Go You! You have a lot of good things going on right now! Swimming will be wonderful for stretching those tired muscles after P90X! So glad you are joining us on the P90X challenge! I hope you love it! Remember, the first week is hard but do what you can and take the modifications if you need to, I do! With all those push-ups I am starting out on my knees! Best of luck this week! I’m cheering you on!
The way I keep my habits is to just do them whether I want to or not for the first few weeks.
After about 3-4 weeks of just doing something, it becomes habit and I run on auto pilot!
So glad to hear that you have your groove back! You are on yet another losing streak… Awesome! I am honestly on the edge of my seat watching you gals go through P90x. I want to try it sometime, but first want to experience the Mamavation Mom journey (however long that will be). It sounds like an amazing transformation and to have to EAT for enough calories sounds kinda fun.
I can’t wait to see next week’s update. Have a fabulous week and keep up your hard work.
