Last week was most definitely full of it’s ups and downs… but overall, I think it was a pretty good week.  Thanks to my Mamavation Sistas for their continued support in all things crazy – you definitely helped me stay sane (well, relatively speaking). Your continued support really means more than words can express and those of you who I leaned so heavily on deserve medals. I love you all!
It seems so appropriate that this week’s question is
What are your strategies to fit everything into your busy life? Any areas you need to work on?Â
Do I ever!
Ideally, I schedule everything – I have my little red day-planner with notes about who to call, emails to send, homework to finish, events with the kids, date night with the hubs (yes, I even schedule that), workouts, pedicures, whatever.  I write it all down and have a plan.
Then life happens.
And suddenly, I’m frazzled because things aren’t fitting into the nice, neat, organized plan I had. Something or someone throw a kink into my schedule or things take longer than planned and I’m running behind.
I need to work on being able to shift on the fly- decide what is a MUST do… vs a “I’d like to†do.  I continue to work on finding a balance with all the “important†areas of my life but ultimately, my family and my health should remain in the forefront… should… I’m not perfect… and never claimed to be.
I also do try to re-prioritize my life when things are continuously too hectic to see what I can drop and what I need to hang on to. I don’t know if you’ve ever felt this way, but I’ve definitely found myself over committing to things that really don’t matter which means that I have less time for things that do. I need to be ok with telling the extended family “NO†when they ask for a last-minute favor or even the hubs when he tells me at the last-minute he needs a potluck dish or cake for work. It’s a balancing act because I love doing these things for them, but sometimes it has to be ok to say no. And that’s what I’m working on.
Last week wasn’t the best week when it comes to taking care of myself. But even still I managed to jump off this latest plateau and lose another pound! Another pound gone for good!
LORI! DID YOU SEE THIS??? I LOST 1 LB!!!
So the plan for this week?
Â
I’ve got my fitness plan written down but my biggest goal is to be gentle with myself when things get Slightly Off Kilter 🙂

you are so awesome at balancing your life – seriously. When I was working full time and going to school, I was terrible at balancing everything and literally almost lost my mind!
Have a great week and thanks for the support on you know what! 😉
You lost a pound! You lost a pound. (imagine me singing and dancing for this) Shelley lost a pound! She rocks my world!
Remember, this leaning on people works both ways. I’m always here for you. You know my cell#, you know my email and Twitter and heck, you could practically stalk me if you wanted to. *grins and hugs*
No? What’s this no you speak of? It’s for sure not in my vocabulary. 🙂
Woot woot! Shelley lost 1lb. WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Way to go on your loss! Kick that plateau’s butt, girlie!! 🙂
Congrats on your loss!
No is a powerful and important word. I have a weird habit of liking to be busy and then wonder why I’m tired all the time? I know you will continue to make way into doing what works best for you and your family! And thanks for sharing the knowledge about being a Mamavation Mom.
