Hello everyone!
Back to our regularly scheduled programming 🙂 For those of you not affiliated with Mamavation, I may have seemed MIA lately but I assure you I’ve just been SUPER busy finishing up the Mamavation campaign. You can see weekly blog posts and videos here.
As for this week – I’d LOVE to report a loss this week.
but…. I think I did too much celebrating Friday and Saturday to be able to do that. that’s the only explanation I have for this:
No change… except that I did FINALLY get around to redoing my pedicure 🙂
I am still very cautious about portion sizes, but we went out to dinner with my parents to celebrate my oldest’s ALMOST birthday. He turns 11 on Wednesday and we decided to do dinner, presents and cake Friday instead. He got some special paints he needed for the model helicopter he’s building with my dad, so this way they could work on it this weekend. It’s really heartwarming to see him and dad working together 🙂
Then, Saturday took a CRAZY long walk – just over 9 miles – and I’m SURE there was some elevation changes there too – in my fantastic Earth footwear so every step was like walking UPHILL! it was fantastic! All told, I had over 25,000 steps according to my Omron Go Smart pedometer. I was soooooooo tired that I ended up doing something I haven’t done in months… I ordered pizza.
I was so tired I went to my local Papa Murphys and bought a pizza to pop in the oven for the boys and I. Hubs was over at his moms… We ate the pizza and it was good… but not as good as I remembered it being.
I know that the 1 slice of pizza I ate didn’t negate all of my hard work this past week, so I’m sure it’s water retention. I’m thinking my sodium these last few days was too high.
The good news is that I didn’t feel good all day today. Not sick, but just lacking serious energy. I NEVER feel this way when I eat whole, real food, so it’s good that I remembered how sluggish I feel when filling my body with junk and I’m back on the wagon full force to keep eating healthy!
This coming week I’m also going to experiment with some new fitness ‘routines.’ I’ve got my new EAS Active2 to set up (was supposed to do that today… guess what DIDN’T happen. Plus I’ve got Yoga Booty Ballet I want to check out and a couple other Dance based workouts. If you haven’t figured it out yet, i LOVE to dance. Seriously. LOVE IT! (I feel I should clarify that loving it doesn’t mean I’m great at it!)
So here are my goals for this week:
- – continue to drink a min of 96 oz of water a day
- – Get a green on my Gruve at least 6/7 days
- – continue my pedometer goal of 12,000 steps a day
- – cardio 3 days this week
- – Strength Training 2 days this week
I know that if I keep doing what I know I need to do, the weight will follow! What goals do you have?
Can’t wait to see everyone on Mamavation TV Monday – 9pm CST- Sponsored by Christine Rusticcia and we always have a fun time. 🙂 If you are curious about Mamavation, I suggest you pop in!
This week’s blogging carnival is sponsored by Earth Footwear. I love my shoes and am hoping that I can be good enough that next year Santa will bring me ANOTHER pair of boots! (this year is shot, but I’m working on next)
Congrats to this week’s SOTW – Megan (@mnmspecial)! So deserving!!!
Can’t wait to hear how everyone’s week went!
Wow. A 9-mile walk sounds fantastic. The longest I’ve never walked is about 5 miles. And it was after work, so I was REALLY exhausted the next day. I think I’m gonna gear up for a long walk this weekend. 🙂
good luck with your goals this week and thanks for the snack idea although none of them sounded the least big appealing to me lol . thanks for being an awesome friend
Shelly, Thank You for motivation. I am starting to feel that I can do it too. And your goals are so doable . Adopt me, please!
I’m thrilled to see you posting today. Congrats on all your success as campaign mom. Life is a balance and I look forward to seeing how you carry your healthy learned habits into these posts for people to continue learning from you.
Girl you are awesome! 9 Miles… wahoooo that’s a celebration in itself! You do have to look at this too that you might actually have put on muscle while losing fat this week, hence the lack of weight change. 😉
You and Rachel are an inspiration and again congrats on the successes you have both achieved with Mamavation!
sorry i missed this last campaign… hoping to get right back into the groove (or should i say “gruve”)
9 miles?? holy cow, i think i would die!! that is just AWESOME.
see you tonight at the show.
The holiday season is hard for all of us trying to lose and get healthy! But stick with it! You have great goals setup for this week, and I know you’ll achieve them! You go girl!
Great job in the campaign!! You’re hard work & dedication is so inspiring – way to go!
Have a great week!
You have been doing so awesome! A 9 mile walk in Earthfootwear is awesome!
Papa Murphys….yum, we don’t have one where we live now, which is probably a good thing!
Eating whole foods really does make a difference in how you feel, doesn’t it? I know it makes a big difference to me.
Have a great week, congrats on all your accomplishments!
It sounds like you’re doing a great job, and I wouldn’t worry about the pizza at all. Sometimes pizza happens, but as long as you’re keeping up your healthy habits, it’s not going to change a thing!
Love the pedi! 🙂
I think you did such an amazing job over the campaign. I had such a good time following your hard work and sweat. And truly, I appreciate how supportive you have been to others. I bet next week with your goals you will see that loss. Have a great week and I look forward to chatting it up with you on Monday night.
Yay! I’m so ready to follow in your footsteps. So you celebrated the weekend, feel yucky, isn’t it great knowing that you want to continue on the healthy track that you were on before?
Love you mama!
You have excellent goals for this week!! (My personal goals are very similar to yours!) 😛
Way to go on maintaining your weight this week… my goal for December is to maintain… and then to kick it into high gear come January 😛
Keep rocking it girl… you can do it! 🙂 Remember, if you ever need a chat… I am just a text, phone call, tweet, email away 🙂
Hey girl! Yeah, one piece of pizza ain’t gonna do it. You know, if you do want pizza, you can either make or buy whole wheat pizza crust and pile the veggies on! I plan on doing that! Also, Stephanie has a recipe on her site for whole wheat crust. Looks great!
So psyched to see you do more!
It would have been better if I had made it myself!
I had to stop reading after I read pop! Pop! You said it was coke…okay, let me finish reading. Sorry you were feeling the effects of out of your normal eating routine. It is such an eye opener for me to see that you can really tell a difference in just a week and a few meals off the bandwagon. Now you know and you know how to get back quickly. Thanks for the inspiration and the pedicure pics (wink wink, lol ) You totally rock it Shelly! Thanks for the shout out too.
