Get to know your Mamavation Mom Applicants – Guest Post – Rebecca B.

Today I’m introducing a Sista I got to know a bit better on MY journey as a Mamavation Mom.  She has been so supportive to all of the sistas via twitter and on our blogs and now I get to let you all get to know her a bit better!  Today please let me introduce Rebecca B. – @momruns26

Things are coming down to the wire for the 7th Mamavation Mom Campaign, and I feel like I’ve missed a lot of opportunities because of being sick. Let me tell you — having asthma, and then getting pneumonia — IT SUCKS. The worst part? Antibiotics and steroids. I am now ABOVE where I started the Move it and Lose it challenge for campaign six.   And although I had help from steroids, this is a part of the reason I am desperate to become a Mamavation Mom — this is a cycle with me and I am desperate to break the cycle.

It goes something like this — I lose weight, I do awesome, and then something happens – a holiday, a death in the family, something stresses me out and I break out the chips and dip. This time it was the steroids… they made me want to eat. I did good MOST of the time… I ate good things, but I still ate a lot. And I did eat junk sometimes. And all it took was 1 Mt Dew…. I was back on the soda.   Right now, I am eating well, the chips and dip are gone, and so is the Mt. Dew. I still can’t breathe enough to exercise though, which is killing me.   I am ready for change. I proved with the Move it and Lose it that I can do this… now I need the education and support to make the changes permanent.

So what else do you need to know about me? I’m a stay-at-home mom of 2 girls. Caitlin is 2.5, Leah is 15 months. I live next door to my grandparents and my parents. My grandpa had a stroke in January of 2009 and is in a wheelchair. Grandma was taking care of him until October, when she fell and broke her pelvis. They are both in the nursing home right now, but will be home in the next few weeks. When they get home, my responsibilities will increase. Since I don’t work, my family thinks I can take care of my grandparents all the time. Most of the time I don’t mind doing it, but some things… EW. I would just so rather not do (can we say bathroom duty anyone?).   I adore them though, so I will do whatever I have to do to make their life easier.

Right now, my husband and I are going through a rough patch. However, he leaves at 6am every morning, and doesn’t get home until 8pm every night. When he’s here, he’s playing his video game so he really isn’t a factor in this decision…. except for the fact that if things don’t work out between him and me I need to be a hot momma for the dating scene! (that was a joke!)

I am not a big fan of being the center of attention or of putting myself out there, so this is HUGE for me. I can’t tell you why I would be a better Mamavation mom than anyone else, I can only tell you why I want it, and that if I am chosen I will succeed. Period — there is no other option for me.

And if I am not chosen, I will rock the Move it and Lose it Challenge!!    I am the same on Twitter as I am in real life — I read everything that goes on, and I comment when I feel I have something useful to add… I am a pretty quiet person, content to just watch what’s going on. I know that if I’m chosen as Mamavation mom I’ll have to put myself out there more, and I can do that.    I am looking forward to reading more guest posts and getting to know some of the newer Sistas more!

If you want to show your support, head over to Twitter and let Leah know that I inspire you!

“Hey @bookieboo! I want @MomRuns26 to be the next #Mamavation Mom. She has my support!
