GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Up

Did you know that today (July 21) through Sunday (July 27) is the GO TEXAN Restaurant Round up?  Apparently this isn’t a new thing ’round these parts but I had no clue how many wonderful establishments participate.  When I was invited to a preview of some of the amazing local creations, I jumped at the chance and was lucky enough to grab my dear friend Helen to join me in the festivities.

Here’s the deal – you like to eat out, right?  And can we all agree that local just tastes better?  So here’s a chance to eat amazing local food, prepared by some of the best establishments our state has to offer, and in return, you are helping food banks across the state.  Like we needed another reason NOT to cook – seriously people, it’s hot outside.  Let someone else do the cooking and clean up for you.

“The GO TEXAN Restaurant Round-Up is a great way to highlight the connection between the agriculture industry and the consumer,” said Stan Ray, chief administrative officer for Farm Credit Bank of Texas. “As a lender to the agriculture industry, we’re proud to be part of an event that supports the hard-working farmers and ranchers we serve, while supporting local economies and food banks throughout the state.”

Participating restaurants will highlight special meal options made with ingredients such as beef, poultry, pork, seafood and produce grown and raised in Texas. Many restaurants will pair these meals with the best of Texas wines, beer and other beverages made right here in the Lone Star State.

The number of participating establishments across the state is long and varied and you are BOUND to find something that appeals to you.  They even divide it up to Texas Regions so you can find all the Central Texas Restaurants participating.

Whether you are in the mood for something from Dock and Roll like their Go Texan Roll…

Or something delictable from Parkside or The Backspace

In the mood for seafood?  You can’t go wrong with Quality Seafood – We’ve been going to them for years…

Perhaps Searsucker is more to your liking with their new American Classic Cuisine…

It’s not just restaurants participating either.  Several local wineries are playing a role and I even discovered a new favorite!  {plus planning a girl’s weekend/road trip to visit the Dry Comal Creek Winery very VERY soon}

And while you’re at it… don’t forget dessert! If you haven’t tried a concoction from Tiny Pies, you are totally missing out.  I’m not usually a Pecan Pie fan to be honest {Don’t take my southern card away} but this little morsel was AMAZING.

These are some of my favorites from the event but there are so many others you can choose from.  So, grab your spouse, or find a date or a group of friends and make plans to dine out during the annual dine-out week, featuring the flavors of Texas as GO TEXAN restaurants highlight the finest Lone Star food and wine and also making donations to food banks across the state.
