I’m finally starting to feel like I’m not spinning out of control. It took until last evening to finally get around to unpacking from Fitcation to be honest and with each item, I smiled at the fond memories of this amazing trip.
Let me back up…
Fitcation is a healthy vacation for moms. That’s the tag line, but for me (and I hope all of the other attendees) it was so much more than that. Fitcation was an opportunity for me to finally meet up with some of the amazing women I call friends although we had never met in person and to reconnect with ones I’m lucky enough to have met in person before.
This year was absolutely amazing. We were fortunate enough to stay in the amazing Four Seasons Westlake Village Courtesy of Dole who graciously sponsored the event. Also? This post is in no way in order of the event… it’s just how my mind works, and truth be told you are probably used to that if you’ve visited here for any length of time.
I can’t speak for everyone, but I for one felt pampered and spoiled from the moment I arrived. The staff was amazingly helpful and the rooms were so luxurious that I didn’t want to leave. Ever. Which made getting up for an early morning boot camp with OC Fit Body Boot Camp even harder. It’s been a week and I’m just now to a point where I’m not walking funny. Kinda wish I had a Body Bugg or FitBit to see how many calories we burned that morning but it was intense FO SHO!
An unexpected highlight of the event was the tour of Dole Headquarters. I’ll be honest… When I saw that on the agenda, I was not all that excited. I already know (and love) Dole pineapple and had no clue what we were in store for. From the moment we walked through the doors, I was plesently surprised as we were introduced to some new recipes and facts about Dole products that I hadn’t even thought of before.
Together, we learned so much about Dole and the new products they are working on and their facilities were absolutely breathtaking. There was so much I saw and discovered (like their mushroom powder) that there will have to be a separate post on them next week so stay tuned for that!
Alyssa, (InspiredRD) even cooked us all dinner which was truly a treat since she’s been such an influence on my nutrition for the last 2 years! (and she’s so stinkin adorable!) We enjoyed wine courtesy of SIP Certified along with a few (thousand) laughs while we hung out at Casa de Bookieboo. She’s so freakin sassy.
We also were fortunate enough to have sponsors cover us head to toe for our outing to LA for sight seeing – New Balance provided us with some AMAZING purple sneaks (and who doesn’t love purple)
while Leading Lady graciously supported the girls.. no pic of THAT lovely addition- you’ll just have to trust me on the style and comfort – Better yet, Leading Lady has authorized me to offer a discount code that is good for a limited time so head on over to their website and use discount code:
FIT15
and you can get 15% off just because you love me 🙂 (or like me enough to read my blog… whatever)
I was UBER impressed with the California Health and Longevity Institute as we toured the facilities and talked about their 360-degree approach to well-being: integrating Medical, Nutrition, Fitness, Life Balance, and spa to their approach.
Mamvation is a lot like that too – focusing on all of the aspects of a healthy life… mind body and spirit. I think that’s why I love this group so darn much. In true Mamavation Fashion, we even were fortunate enough to enjoy a motivational session with Joshua Medcalf while we enjoyed a lunch from Subway. You may have heard of Joshua or his site Train to be clutch… the thing about sessions like that is that I think everyone walked away from it with whatever they needed to hear.
There is so much more to share so look for some additional posts in the next few days/weeks as I dive into more about what I learned on this trip. It was truly amazing and I’m already looking forward to next year.
HUGE HUGE thanks go out to the sponsors that made this possible:
Fitcation was sponsored by Dole, Four Seasons Westlake Village, the California Health and Longevity Institute, Sip the Good Life, New Balance, Subway andLeading Lady Bras. These sponsors provided the attendees with lodging, meals, activities and product during the event. As an attendee, I was asked to give my honest opinion and all opinions are 100% my own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of these organizations.
Off subject, but I love your instragram slide show! So glad I got to come see you again at Fitcation! We were so busy that we didn’t get to hang out too much, but it was still awesome and amazing. You’re a rock star! Thanks for putting in so much work 🙂
Thanks Megan 🙂 I know we didn’t hang much this year but there’s always NEXT YEAR!!! WOO HOO!
It looks like everyone had a great time and stayed super-healthy. I wish I could go on a healthy vacation where the focus is on learning new things and learning about nutrition. It’s so much better than when people go on vacation and eat crap the whole time!! LOL
The funny thing was that it didn’t feel like “health food” it was good food and it was perfect.
Best time ever! At least until next year. What an amazing time we had. I miss you Hollywood. Sponsors rocked my socks this year!
you and me kid – we gotta represent every year 🙂 Miss you already 🙂
