First and foremost, Let me start by saying I’m uber thankful for long weekends.
The boys and I relished in an “extra day” after the Run or Dye 5K we did and enjoyed hanging out at watching movies together.
I’m also thankful that we are starting to get back into the “normal routine” which has been missing in my world. Â This week is a bit hectic with the open houses, meet teachers, figure out who needs to be where and when… but I see the light at the end of the tunnel.
I’m thankful that I live here in Central Texas where there are so many amazing things to do if one only looks.  (I’m also obviously thankful for my friends over at R We There Yet Mom and Free Fun in Austin who compile lists of the awesome happenings around town so I can find stuff to do!)
This fall I think that the boys and I are going to check out the Star Parties over at UT.  Have you heard of these?  Because I hadn’t but there are opportunities Every Friday and Saturday while UT is in session for free viewing on the Painter Hall Telescope hosted by the Department of Astronomy, and every Wednesday night while UT is in session the astronomy department sponsors free public star parties on the top roof of Robert Lee Moore Hall.Â
I’m thankful that the Giant was with me when I went out to discover a completely flat tire so he could change it for me. Â It’s not that I can’t do it myself, it’s that I would be remiss if I passed on such an opportune teachable moment. Â Tires are replaced by the way, and I’m thankful for that too. Â I’ve spent far too many years in a state of panic where finances were stretched too thin to take care of things.
I’m thankful for all of you – especially those of you who share so many funnies with me because if we aren’t laughing, what’s the point? Â The buzzfeed list of parents who are pros at texting still has me laughing.. I mean who DOESN’T love a well placed Disney Reference?
I’m thankful for friends who share in my nerdy sense of humor because pie charts are funny and gems like this, should be shared
Coming up in the next few weeks, I’m joining in on Writing 101 and I’m thankful for that too. Â I’m always looking for ways to improve myself and I’m hoping some of my friends will join in along the way. Â I know some are taking part in Blogging 101 so if either speaks to you, join in!
And of course… I’m thankful for you. Â I’m thankful for those of you who read my words and leave me comments. Â I’m thankful for those of you who read my words and connect in a real way. Â I’m thankful for those of you who lurk periodically even if I never know you stopped by. Â If you are, even in the smallest way, in my world, I’m thankful for you.
I couldn’t decide between Writing 101 and Blogging 101. I almost registered for both but since I have been having a bit of trouble finishing things I start, maybe doing all the things isn’t the most effective way to increase my finisher success rate.
The normal routine is highly underrated. I thrive on the kids being in school during the day so I can be “ON” when they are home and getting homework done. I’m such a nicer, more patient mom when I’m not being asked to “Make my sister stop punching me.” 45230985702378450327 times every day. (To be clear, all the kids yell this about all the other kids. You’d think I was a Duggar the amount of times I have kids accusing other kids of doing this, that, or the other thing!)
I know it’s strange to say and there are many MANY drawbacks to it, but I’m thankful for a shared custody arrangement so that I have a few days a week when I’m not playing referee-chef-nurse-chauffeur-mom… but getting into the back to norm routine is kinda crazy lately. Open houses, shuffled practices… should even out a bit soon. Soon.
Which did you decide? Blogging 101? I can’t wait to hear more from you on what you’re learning!
Also? I adore you. Thank you for always commenting when you have something to say.
Part of me always does a little jelly sigh when you talk about your boys leaving. Not anything big just, I take that breath with you and transition to nose picking butt scratching bliss for just a second.
I was talking about this with a friend of mine earlier. Where you’re jealous of just one itty bitty part of something someone has and you cut out EVERYTHING around it and all that’s left is that one thing (peace and quiet) left and that’s the thing you crave from afar.
Because really none of us wants to trade places with anyone else. We just want to be able to take the cherry offa their cake once in a while in our mind’s eye. 😉
I went with Blogging 101 so I’ll be across from you trying to peek at your work to see how it’s different.
I’m not even to the multiple extra curricular activity point with my kids’ ages yet. I can only imagine the shit storm that’s coming. I try not to think about it. LOL
