Welcome to the Dark Side

The last time I bought a laptop, it was 2007. I was in marriage #2… Just started a new job… I bought a HUGE HP because it had 10-key keypad and ran Windows Vista. A lot of things have changed since then.

That lappy was so big it was’t exactly portable… but beyond its size, the fan had gone wonky so didn’t cool properly and the battery no longer held a charge so I couldn’t really use it without it being plugged in.  Kinda defeats the purpose of actually HAVING a laptop.  I had been using work laptops for all my lappy needs but it was time to upgrade.  After all, no longer in that relationship, no longer at that job, and Google Chrome kept telling me that my favorite browser would no longer be supported since nobody runs Vista anymore… So, when my tax refund popped into my account thanks to my no-interest-bearing-savings-account as I like to call it, I decided to splurge on me a bit.  But what to buy… I of course hopped over to the book of face where many opinions were shared… but when it all came down to it, I felt compelled to jump feet first over to the dark side… and when I found a deal I couldn’t pass up on a Mac… well, I treated it as a sign.

And moments after I shared my news with a friend, and was promptly told that I am now dead to him, he sent me this:

You know what?  I’m completely okay with that.  I don’t need mission control at my fingertips – I want to play with pretty pictures and blog and sync my phone.  I’m not doing much else so I’m completely okay with my choice.

I’ve moved my files and music and pictures… and got a chuckle from the migration image:

but now… now there are super important decisions to be made… 

Because the lappy is pretty… but…

It’s a bit plain… And there are so many gorgeous options for how to decorate that I can’t decide what to go with…

I could celebrate my love for Star Wars…

Or Avengers…

Or Sherlock…

Or Harry Potter…

Or My love for all things Disney & Pixar…

Or something nostalgic…

I could go with something pretty…

Or add a reminder…

Or stick with plain geekery…

So as you can see, I’m stuck… And I realize this is far less permanent than a tattoo, but I still can’t decide. So what would you pick? Or is there a FABULOUS one I’m missing?
