The next finalist who has contributed to this series is new to the sistahood but has been lurking and following along for quite some time! Â Now we can help her to put her changes into action and make the changes to help not only herself, but her family as well! Â Without further ado – I present Heather – @Justheather
Why I Want to Be a Mamavation Mom
As one of the newest members in the Mamavation Sistahood, it might seem odd that I’ve already applied to be the next Mamavation Mom. What can I say? I’m an all or nothing kind of girl. Partly, because my competitive nature pushes me to give my all, even when there’s no competition. And, partly, because I analyze every decision to death.
I first heard of Mamavation last year, when Katie from Frugal Femina asked for my support with her Mamavation application. I was thrilled to see her move on to be a Mamavation Mom and loved watching her weight loss journey throughout the program. Just a few weeks later, I had the pleasure of meeting Bookie Boo in person at Blissdom – she is straight up amazing, you guys!
I was inspired and began paying more attention to her fitness tweets & the Mamavation hashtag. I watched from afar and did nothing to change my own habits. When the next campaign rolled around, I thought I should think about doing that one day. Then another one came along, and I thought I might do it one day. And another – this time, I actually looked at the application.
So, when I saw the announcement for campaign 8, I just knew it was time. I was all in, and that’s why I’ll be successful – I’ve thought it through, found the support I need and committed full out to my fitness journey. But, I guess that still doesn’t tell you why! The why is in the name itself – Mamavation.
It isn’t just me who is unhealthy – it’s my entire family. And, the motivation for family fitness has to come from Mom! It’s taken me awhile to own up to the fact that I can’t teach my kids to eat healthy when I drink soda all day, snack on chips nonstop and sneak candy every night. I can’t expect my kids to get off the couch, go outside and play when I spend every free moment on my butt, laptop in place.
I get it now, and I’m ready. I’m ready to be the mom my girls deserve. I want to run & play with them. I need to be a leader in our health. It’s time to show them that even when changes are hard, they’re worth it for our family’s health. We’ve already begun making changes at home – both in our diet and in family activity. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Can you please support my journey to health with a vote for JustHeather?
