It’s Halloween! But y’all probably knew that. By now, you probably have your costumes ready to go and the candy stash awaiting the trick or treaters… unless you were dealing with Hurricane Sandy and decided to break into the stash to cope. No judgement.
In our neighborhood, we are Unjunking Halloween with Unreal Candy.
I’ve known about Unreal for a while now and I have to say that I love it. What is Unreal? I think they explain it best:
“A few years ago, Michael and his 13 year old son Nicky got into an argument over Halloween candy. Nicky came home with his bag of loot, went to bed, and woke up the next morning to find that his dad had confiscated most of it. It played out the way these fights normally do, with the candy gone and Nicky going to his room.
Later, Nicky did some research online (to prove to his dad that candy isn’t so bad). He discovered that his dad was right (for once).
It’s not that Nicky thought candy was healthy. It’s that he didn’t know how bad it really was. What Nicky learned was that the worst parts of candy (like hydrogenated oils, corn syrup, artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives) aren’t there to make it taste good. They’re there to make it cheaper to produce.
Nicky had a hunch that without the junk, candy could taste better. With the help of his older brother Kris, and his dad, they set out to prove it.”
FOR THE RECORD – Everything in moderation… I mean if I were to eat the entire stash of Unreal, I would still get a tummy ache… but at least it’s REAL stuff! No artificials at all! Compare won’t you:
So, here’s the thing… my mother is a Peanut M&M junkie. Seriously, don’t touch her peanut M&Ms. So I put Unreal to the test last night.
Her comments were that it tasted as good or better than her favorite treat, but more than that, after only a few, she was satisfied where as with the name brand option, she keeps wanting more and more. That’s how I feel about it. It’s more satisfying because it is REAL.
So, tonight, much to my mother’s chagrin, we will be handing this treat out to the trick or treaters and I will be back with an update later in the week.
There are tons of stores carrying UnReal, so if it doesn’t end up in your kid’s trick or treat bag, don’t sweat it. Major retailers are carrying this wonderful treat so you can get yours at CVS, Target, Kroger and many many more. Check out their website for a full list of retailers.
OH! and if you are looking for something scarier than the crap they put in candy, you need to check out this story of the real ghost story my friend Leah is living with. Totally gave me chills.
